Mark your calendars for the first 2012 LAS VEGAS, NM Paint-Out!

Come to “laid-back Las Vegas” (the original Las Vegas, that is, pop. 16,000) to paint on location from

Oct 10 – 13, 2012.

Las Vegas, NM is renowned for it’s wild west Hollywood film set locations for such gems as Red Dawn and No Country for Old Men— but it’s so much more. Lush evergreens from the southern tip of the Sangre de Cristos, fall color on Hermit Peak, dramatic cloud-filled plains, victorian architecture; Las Vegas, NM is something you just have to see for yourself.

Sponsored by the Las Vegas Arts Council of San Miguel County, the first inaugural plein-air Paint-Out features a Competitive paint-out, a Quick Draw, an Art Show Reception and Sale, and other social gatherings in and around the Plaza. The exhibition runs through the month of October 2012.

Awards include Best of Show, Best Painting from a Film set in Las Vegas, plus other awards!

DEADLINE for Registration is TBA

Deadline to receive special discount prices for nights at the historic Plaza Hotel is TBA.

Stay tuned for more information!

CALL FOR Volunteer Graphic Artist

Poster Needed for EMPTY BOWLS United World College Fundraiser

Empty Bowls/UWC Event seeking Volunteer Graphic Artist
This is a request to local artists to create a graphic that we can use for our Empty Bowls event poster. The event takes place on Feb. 25th, 2012. Local ceramic artists and the United World College Pottery group have produced 200 bowls to be sold at the event. Entertainment will be provided by UWC students and any local artists who wish to participate. We did this event two years ago and it was very well attended. The proceeds for the event will go to the Las Vegas Soup Kitchen and Samaritan House. We would like to have the poster ready for distribution by January 23rd so we would need a drawing/photo image in the very near future. Please contact Jane Warsaw (505-425-3120; janewarsaw@gmail.com) or Sharon Seto (sharon.seto@uwc-usa.org) if you are interested in helping us. We can provide inspiration! Thanks so much.
