Project Leap: Main Street de Las Vegas
Main Street de Las Vegas has been been awarded a Main Street Resiliency Grant, which will provide $8,500 to start Project Leap, a small business e-commerce site, training program, and accompanying marketing campaign to help their local businesses get online.
In working with businesses through their popular Cash Mob program, Main Street de Las Vegas discovered many did not have websites, social media pages, or branding. Through Project Leap, small businesses will get connected to a graphic designer and website expert who will help them develop branding and enhance their online presence. After attending a workshop, small businesses will apply to receive one-on-one assistance. Main Street de Las Vega will also work with Las Vegas First Independent Business Alliance to create and promote a Las Vegas group e-commerce site to market 20 small local businesses and a shop local message.
Congratulations and Kudos to MainStreet de Las Vegas, members, the board, and Executive Director Michael Peranteau!

MARCH MASTERPIECE FACEBOOK POP-UP ART CONTEST
Parry Primroses by award-winning watercolorist Jane Fritz won first place
in a Facebook contest run on the Las Vegas Arts Council’s Facebook album March Masterpiece Contest. Jane also curated our June show, Splash!
Five talented Las Vegas area artists accepted the challenge! We uploaded their entries into an album, and Parry Primrose earned the most likes before midnight Friday, April 3. The (drum roll, please) grand prize was (fanfare, please) a roll of toilet paper! And if that doesn’t sound like a great prize, you don’t remember April 2020!
Jane is a very good sport!

The New Mexico Highlands University Foundation has announced two new challenge grants to add fine art prints by New Mexico artists to the Foundation’s art collection. Every $100 contribution to the Foundation’s Friends of Art will be matched by another generous donor, resulting in acquisition of a print by Northern New Mexico artist Willard Clark (1910-1992). For every new member joining the Friends of Art, another donor will add a print by Contemporary New Mexico artist Eli Levin (b. 1938). The Foundation hosts one of the finest collections of prints in the region, and joining the Friends of Art will make it even better. Contact the Foundation at (505) 454-3248 or email@example.com.
Your ideas are the seeds of a flourishing community gallery. Brainstorms are always welcome. Call 505-425-1085 and leave a message or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or drop into 140 Bridge Street, Las Vegas, NM, someday, when we are free again!
