VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
The City of Las Vegas has joined hands with its educational partners, New Mexico Highlands University, Luna Community College, the United World College, Las Vegas City and West Las Vegas Public Schools to create “Vecinos Juntos”. Vecinos Juntos is an organization that embraces the spirit of neighbors helping neighbors to improve the quality of life for individual Las Vegas residents and for the entire Las Vegas community. The mission of Vecinos Juntos is “to make volunteerism a force for promoting the concept that we are all neighbors sharing an uncommon commitment for the common good.”
Citizens wishing to volunteer may contact City Liaison Loretta Martin at lmartin@lasvegasnm.gov or phone 505-454-1401 x 1003
The New Mexico Highlands University Foundation has announced two new challenge grants to add fine art prints by New Mexico artists to the Foundation’s art collection. Every $100 contribution to the Foundation’s Friends of Art will be matched by another generous donor, resulting in acquisition of a print by Northern New Mexico artist Willard Clark (1910-1992). For every new member joining the Friends of Art, another donor will add a print by Contemporary New Mexico artist Eli Levin (b. 1938). The Foundation hosts one of the finest collections of prints in the region, and joining the Friends of Art will make it even better. Contact the Foundation at (505) 454-3248 or foundation@nmhu.edu.
